| Our Secular Gig - "Give the Pope a
Prod" |
|
 |
Our
secular gig "Give the Pope a prod" was a happy affair - most of the
audience seeking relief from the oppressive religious World Youth Day
proceedings. We revelled in the non-religious or anti-religious
sentiments, with only one person apparently unhappy. Marvellous support
from Mic Conway - lots of mentions of the Secular Party and
worldTRUTHday. Some risque Pope jokes - I will tell you over a beer one
day. National Junk Band played lots of funny and serious anti
religious songs, with more played from CD during the break. |

The Popemobile
visits the Australian Catholic University, Strathfield Campus - above.
On Saturday 12th July, the WTD Popemobile toured St Mary's Cathedral
but was asked to leave and the gates then closed. |
 |
| The
Popemobile moved on to visit the Australian Catholic University, home
to the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel where the Tomb of Blessed Mary
MacKillop is located. |
 |
Shortly
after, we moved on to meet the pilgrims walking to North Sydney Oval,
where the Popemobile was given a going over by the local constabulary
who issued the vehicle with a defect notice on the grounds
that
it was a distraction to other traffic and would not be safe to drive at
100km/h. |

| The World TRUTH Day popemobile - second incarnation. |
 |
The
Popemobile has been ressurected in a new form to satisfy road
worthiness requirements. We guess it is still a distraction to
surrounding traffic but will be kept covered while travelling between
events.
Rumour has it that it may briefly transubstantiate into sedan chair form on
Thursday 17th July. |
